IT IS WITH GREAT PLEASURE THAT I WRITE THIS LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION.

MR. SCHROER AND DURABLE RESTORATION COMPANY ASSISTED MY FIRM IN THE RESTORATION OF THE MEYER-DAVIS RESIDENCE AND THE PONCE INLET POST OFFICE IN 2010. THE PROJECT WAS TWO WOOD VERNACULAR STRUCTURES THAT HAD BEEN ADDED ONTO OVER THE YEARS AND NEEDED TO BE RESTORED TO AN EARLIER DATE. MR. SCHROER VAST KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORIC CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES AND LOCATION OF HISTORIC MATERIALS NEEDED TO REPLACE MISSING PARTS WAS A TREMENDOUS HELP TO MAKE THIS A SUCCESSFUL PROJECT. HIS KNOWLEDGE OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE US DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR STANDARDS AND EFFORTS IT TAKES TO MEET THOSE STANDARDS MADE MY PART OF THE JOB EASIER. MR. SCHROER ABILITY TO SOLVE DIFFICULT STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS DUE TO THE DETERIORATION OF A BUILDING WHILE KEEPING THE ORINIAL HISTORIC ELEMENTS INTACT WAS KEY TO SAVING THE POST OFFICE BUILDING.

DURING THIS PROJECT MR. SCHROER DEMOSTATED THAT HE IS TRULY A CRAFTSMAN OF HIS TRADE AND SHOULD BE CONGRADULATED FOR THE WORK HE PROVIDED FOR THIS PROJECT. THE FINAL PRODUCT HAS BEEN A SHOW PLACE FOR OUR CLIENT, THE CITY OF PONCE INLET AND THE CITIZENS.

I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH MR. SCHROER AND DURABLE RESTORATION COMPANY ON FUTURE PRESERVATION PROJECTS DUE TO THEIR PROFESSIONALISM, QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP AND THEIR ABILITY TO PERFORM IN A TIMELY MANNER.

I WOULD GLADLY RECOMMEND THEM FOR ANY PRESERVATION PROJECT.

Town of Ponce Inlet recently completed the restoration of two historic structures as well as other development improvements at 143 Beach Street, Ponce Inlet, Florida. This project is now known as the Ponce Inlet Historical Museum. As the Project manager I had the pleasure of working with Scott Schroer during the entire restoration process. I found Scott to a very conscientious person dedicated to the project from the beginning to the end. His attention to detail and historical accuracy is exemplary. His knowledge and understanding of construction, restoration, and preservation techniques, methods and standards was truly an asset for this project. As with any historic restoration unforeseen circumstances arise. Scott was able to resolve these issues and in addition the project was completed on time and within budget.

The Town of Ponce Inlet is very pleased with the quality of work and expertise of Durable Restoration Company and especially the fine performance by Scott. Please feel free to use the Town of Ponce Inlet as a reference.

As the CRA Director for the City of Kissimmee I had the honor to work with Mr. Scott Schroer on the historic restoration of the Carson Bryan Home. I can truly state Mr. Schroer is a Master Craftsman and so deserving of the Trust's Master Craftsman Award.

The traditional techniques used by Scott in restoring the Carson Bryan Home provided a unique look into the art of construction of a time period from the past 100 years. The citizens of Kissimmee stopped by the job site to watch Scott work on the one-of-a-kind wood porches and marveled at the detail and true artistry in his work.

Because of Scott’s knowledge of historic preservation and artistic ability the Carson Bryan Home will be a authentic reminder of truly how the Carson Bryan family lived in the 1900's on a corner in downtown Kissimmee not just for today's residents but for future generations of Kissimmee residents and visitors.

I am so very pleased to provide a letter of support for his designation as Master Craftsman.

I wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the work which The Durable Restoration Company is doing on the Porcher House Historic Restoration Project.  Your team of professional craftsmen have done a tremendous job in spite of the challenging conditions presented by the interior of the building.

I have also appreciated the valuable engineering suggestions you have made which saved us money on  this project.  The fact that you made it possible to bring the project in on budget made it possible to accomplish the restoration of this treasured historic site.

We are very happy with your progress thus far and look forward to the successful completion of the project.

I have such confidence in the quality of  Durable Restoration’s work that I would happily recommend your firm for any restoration work in the future.

It is a pleasure to provide a letter of reference and or commendation for the work performed at the Ft. White Railroad Depot, completed July, 2008.  Mr. Scott Schroer representing The Durable Restoration Company was a pleasure to work with.  The company performed their work in an exemplary manner and fulfilled their commitments on time and within the budget.  Their knowledge of restoration and the US Department of Interior Standards was quite helpful in our efforts to replicate certain built elements of the structure.  As with any restoration project, there should be anticipation of certain undetectable damage to the structure that cannot be determined until selective demolition occurs.  Their knowledge and capacity to face and correct unseen detrimental elements such as wood rot, bug infestation or existing detrimental structural conditions was quite helpful.

It is with pleasure that I recommend The Durable Restoration Company and Mr. Scott Schroer for your current or future restoration needs.

A few months ago, The Durable Restoration Company completed installation of a new roof on the Derby Street Chapel, the historic preservation project of Cocoa Main Street.

The Derby Street Chapel Committee and Cocoa Main Street were more than satisfied with the new roof – they were ecstatic. While the new roof was being installed, the committee members could not stay away from the work site. However, Shawn Beckwith and the rest of the crew always maintained a courteous, friendly, and professional manner, and graciously accommodated our questions and interruptions. Thank you and your workmen for giving us your attention and courtesy during this exciting time for us.

Since this project is partially funded by a grant from the Bureau of Historic Preservation in Tallahassee, a new roof entailed getting approval for the appropriate roof covering. An Orlando roofer had presented two metal roof styles that were not approved. Then, Shawn made several attempts before receiving approval from Tallahassee for an appropriate metal shingle. His persistence and research was greatly appreciated.

Shawn’s skill in dealing with our local architect, the architects at the Bureau of Historic Preservation and the City of Cocoa building officials has been invaluable to us in navigating the maze of rules, regulations, codes and such that are required for each step of the process in restoration of this charming and unique historic building.

We are pleased to have had The Durable Restoration Company for this job. The company’s integrity and professionalism was apparent in all dealings. We knew of your work with the City of Cocoa on the Porcher House, and the fact that you were fully licensed and insured. However, the fact that you and your co-workers took the time to explain what could and could not be done before the work started, and followed through once the job was complete, added much to our satisfaction.

We look forward to a long relationship with The Durable Restoration Company. Good luck to you in all your historic preservation projects in Florida.

Ida Wright, Chair
Derby Street Chapel Restoration Committee
Cocoa Main Street

I wish your company did more than just restoration. We have had the most positive comments about your company and how ya'll handled things of any contractor that we have used. Thanks.

Over an eighteen year span, I have served as an administrative assistant, school principal and school board member.  During that time, I was involved with many contractors in a school setting in some manner.  I will readily admit that not all of those experiences were pleasant, efficient or productive.  In today’s world we often find a lack of integrity, quality workmanship, cooperation and/or positive relationships when dealing with contractors.

This, however, has not been the case in my experience with The Durable Restoration Company.  As a matter of fact, I was so impressed with Durable I approached them and offered to write this letter of commendation.  This is the first time in my career I have written a letter of commendation for a contractor.  Durable and its employees made every effort to work with the staff and alter their work assignments to meet any special needs of our school.

Mr. Scott Kahlig was the site superintendent and maintained a constant line of communication with school officials.  His willingness to make changes in work schedules and work around school functions and academics was impressive.  The employees he supervised were pleasant and efficient workers.  They began the project on time and finished on time and we were most pleased with the quality of their work.  Not once did I receive a report from a student, parent, faculty member, staff member or any person regarding inappropriate language or inappropriate behavior.

Mr. Scott Schroer promised exactly this kind of service in our initial meeting and I remember thinking, “Yeah, I’ve heard that before.”  However, his words were prophetic.  It is refreshing and rewarding in today’s world to find a man of character who delivers what he promises.

I enthusiastically recommend The Durable Restoration Company for your building needs.
