Historic Curci House to be Restored by Award-winning Contractor
Hallandale Beach, FL - April 30, 2007
The Curci House, the only remaining example of Italian Renaissance architecture in Hallandale Beach and home to the Curci family from 1925 when it was built to some time in the 1960’s, will be restored to its original grandeur. The contract to perform the restoration was awarded to The Durable Slate Company, with offices in Merritt Island, by the City of Hallandale Beach.
The City selected the restoration team of The Durable Slate Company and Steve Avdakov of Heritage Architectural Associates based on qualifications presented and expertise in dealing with the restoration of historic structures.
Lou Perry, vice president of operations for The Durable Slate Company, expressed a keen interest in this project. “This is a significant building in Broward County. We know that The Durable Slate Company was selected, in part, because of our experience in dealing with the delicate restoration of historic treasures such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Westcott House where we faced similar issues of structural stabilization and faithful restoration of both exterior and interior details.”
With the expertise, knowledge, and experience in the restoration of historic buildings possessed by Durable Slate, a meticulous restoration of the Curci House can be expected. Perry went on to say that his company, a national award-winning historic restoration contractor, is “honored and enthusiastic to be part of the team, along with Heritage Architectural Associates, chosen to restore this example of historic architecture in Hallandale Beach.”
A groundbreaking ceremony to mark the launch of the restoration will take place on May 3, 2007 in Hallandale Beach. View the handout for the event.
