Reese Peters House

This project encompassed the interior and exterior ground-up restoration and renovation of a treasured historic structure in Fairfield County. Built in 1834 by attorney William Reese, the historic mansion was completely restored to provide a home for the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio.

The scope of the two year long restoration project included:

Detailed drawing profiles aided the manufacture of the new front entry steps being installed here. Hidden from view are the custom footers and block work supporting the structure.
Interior wall showing plaster craftsmanship, the addition of modern lighting, heating and cooling features. The woodwork has been thoroughly cleaned and repainted.
Plaster restoration of ceiling, cornice and walls. Wood restoration and painting. The new exit sign has been covered during the painting process.

Plaster was restored; picture mold, new heating and cooling elements were added; woodwork was cleaned and painted.

Work proceeded with careful attention to detail in in the wood restoration, plaster repair and painting. The floors were protected with rosin paper after being fully restored.

The new wall-hung hand railing, designed to match the original with its spindles, was one of the modern building code requirements. On the right, a reproduction of the original in the 1910 addition, built to conform with modern building requirements.
