In recent years, there has been a growing movement to revitalize historic business districts along the main corridors of many cities. This is particularly true among the many small cities in the Midwest and Northeast that have a heritage that goes back a couple of centuries. Many of the cities have a central downtown plaza with many of the original commercial buildings that have stood since the founding of the town. With many of these historical buildings, the storefront is the most architecturally significant feature. There are many programs available to cities for state and federal grant money to rehabilitate these downtown buildings, and, in particular, rehabilitating storefronts. Durable Restoration has assisted many of these downtown building owners with their historic storefront rehabilitations with the assistance of grant programs such as National
Trust Main Street.
